So what about me as a photographer? Well this all started from before I can even remember! My mother used to give me disposable cameras to play with and I would run around the garden taking as many photos as I could until the film ran out. Then when we moved to Africa I was given my first digital camera and it never left my side, I still have the photo albums from that time and they’re just so special to me!
As I started to grow up I knew that photography was something I wanted to do more seriously and so I did everything in my power to make that happen, even started a petition to bring the subject to my school! However despite my efforts this didn’t work and I moved to a sixth form that had an incurable photography department and it was all of old school film photography too. This gave me such a strong grounding in the subject and the knowledge I gained there was unparalleled to any other education I’ve had and yes that’s including my degree!
What about weddings? Well I actually shot my first wedding when I was 16 and it was love at first sight, there was no going back. I was given this opportunity by a local wedding photographer who needed an assistant and rang the school, luckily for me he chose me for the role and for the next two summers I continue to work and photograph weddings with him.
Then in 2018 I decided it was time to go it on my own (I was still studying for my BA Photography degree at the time) and September that year was when I officially launched ‘Kristen Kate Photography’. It’s been a long a bumpy road since then but I am proud to say it was and is a success! I found something that I love and now get to share that joy with all my wonderful couples.
