"Romantic, Natural, dynamic"
Do you want a photographer that will not only capture your day in the most beautiful way possible but become your friend in the process? Of course you do! I can’t wait to hear all about you two as a couple but before I get ahead of myself, here is everything you need to know about me, as your wedding photographer but also as a person…
I’ve often been told I’m to kind for my own good and need to learn to be more guarded but this is honestly one of my favourite qualities and I would hate to loose it! I absolutely love helping people, it leaves me feeling all warm inside knowing I’ve may have made someones day that much better!
I think this steams from the way I grew up, as a child I had the immense privilege of traveling the world due to my fathers work! To name a few I lived in, South Africa, much of Europe and many difference areas in North America! This varied up bringing opened my world to all sorts of different cultures and experiences from such a young age that now, in my adult life, I crave this diversity and am always seeking to know more about people and the world. As for my romantic life I have a wonderful partner, Stephan, who I have been with for nearly seven years now, doesn’t time fly when your with the one you love? We recently moved into our first home together and we couldn’t be more pleased, even through all the lockdowns being cramped in together😂
I absolutely love it when I find thing in common with my couples so without further ado here is a list of the things I love most in life:
- Only the cheesiest Rom Coms!
- Staring at the stars
- Literally anything creative
- Learning and expanding my understanding of the world
- Singing (very poorly) in my car!
- Real human connection
- A clear, sunny sky
- Disney, disney, disney!

So what about me as a photographer? Well this all started from before I can even remember! My mother used to give me disposable cameras to play with and I would run around the garden taking as many photos as I could until the film ran out. Then when we moved to Africa I was given my first digital camera and it never left my side, I still have the photo albums from that time and they’re just so special to me!
As I started to grow up I knew that photography was something I wanted to do more seriously and so I did everything in my power to make that happen, even started a petition to bring the subject to my school! However despite my efforts this didn’t work and I moved to a sixth form that had an incurable photography department and it was all of old school film photography too. This gave me such a strong grounding in the subject and the knowledge I gained there was unparalleled to any other education I’ve had and yes that’s including my degree!
What about weddings? Well I actually shot my first wedding when I was 16 and it was love at first sight, there was no going back. I was given this opportunity by a local wedding photographer who needed an assistant and rang the school, luckily for me he chose me for the role and for the next two summers I continue to work and photograph weddings with him.
Then in 2018 I decided it was time to go it on my own (I was still studying for my BA Photography degree at the time) and September that year was when I officially launched ‘Kristen Kate Photography’. It’s been a long a bumpy road since then but I am proud to say it was and is a success! I found something that I love and now get to share that joy with all my wonderful couples.
